We got to the Feix's house just in time for dinner. After dinner we took a walk around their subdivision. It was a very hot and humid night - lucky for the boys, they were able to be shirtless.
There were lots of surprises to keep her entertained (not to mention when Alex let their dog Cooper chase the ducks along the pathway).
She wanted so badly to go up to the outside cat (we know he was friendly and where he lived due to a sign the owners put up on their fence to let walkers know about him, but still)
But the best part of the walk was finding the park. Up she goes!
Ahh!
While we were there this growing boy took his first steps! This was right after it happened. He was so proud.
The next day was another hot one so we walked to the pool.
My little man preferred to eat crackers on the side. He wasn't fond of being in the water.
Although he did get closer and enjoyed playing with the water toys.
That night we went to a frozen yogurt shop and played on the grassy hill. This was the only non-blurry picture I could get of these two together. They move too much!!
On Saturday, we drove a couple hours east
to Atlantic Beach. This was Myles'
first look at the ocean. It's one of my favorite
pictures from the entire trip.
|
While we got settled, Alex entertained the kids by taking them for rides on the train.
Heading to the ocean for the first time.
Nora was a little scared.
And so did she.
Filling their buckets together.
And then it was nap time.... Time for parents to relax.
The beach was lovely. Great view from our balcony.
Starting to collect shells with Alex. She referred to him as "other Daddy" all weekend.
The closest he'd get to the ocean. And even then, you can tell he's holding on tight.
Nolan, on the other hand, you couldn't keep out of the water.
Allison had a try taking Myles in with similar results.
On a seashell hunt with Daddy.
The Feix's
Just trying to get him comfortable with the water. I didn't even try to get him in.
Nolan and Nora watched Elmo while we got breakfast ready.
Then Nora tried teaching Nolan how to play Peek-a-boo Barn.
Friends since grade school.
So glad we had the tripod along so we could get this fantastic picture of the seven of us.
All the kiddos.
This was the first time he actually kept sunglasses on! Nora kept saying, "cool dude!"
Love.
The Guenthers
Dan and I rarely take a picture of with just the two of us. I really wanted this :)
Check out of the hotel was at 10am which was too early to stick the kids in the car for a two hour drive. So it was perfect that there was an aquarium just five minutes away.
This was the brightest blue. Just gorgeous. Pulled me right in.
Dan stayed the night in Durham with us before driving back to Greensboro Monday morning for work.
The kids and I stayed with Alex and Allison until Tuesday after lunch.
On Monday, I asked if we could check out the Duke campus. I don't know what it is with this kid and benches but she was happy.
Duke's chapel.
Their dorms... Not a whole lot like Nelson Hall at UWO.
That night it was rainy so we had craft time again.
That boy inside of Nora's bear hug is Nolan. Saying goodbye and hoping that it's not too long until we all see each other again.
Time to head west to Greensboro and join Daddy for the remainder of the week!
