Take a hike!
No, I'm not telling you to take a hike... keep reading. I'm telling you what we did on Labor Day this year. It was such a beautiful day. We wanted to get outside and do something so we decided to head over to the Busse Forest Preserve for a family walk. Walking over there really gives you the feeling that you're further away than you really are. You can't hear cars for most of the path so it's rather peaceful. We definitely weren't the only ones who had the idea to take advantage of the forest preserve that day - we had to wait for a parking spot and shared the path with
many other walkers, bikers, and rollerbladers.
Nora wanted to walk for a portion of our time. I'd guess she walked about three-quarters of a mile. She was amazing. You can tell she's getting tired from walking when she starts stumbling every 10 steps but she still insists on going further. Her favorite part of the walk was watching the bikers and rollerbladers whip past her. She'd see one coming and she would have to stop and wave to them as they passed. Once they were past, she'd immediately sign "more". She had a great time. And we had a great time watching her explore.
